Greater Worcester Opera provides a
variety of performance types and styles, utilizing
professionally trained singers and instrumentalists who are
also enjoyable entertainers. In addition to student
performances, GWO also offers theme-based concerts for
parties and private functions (holidays, corporate
entertainment, etc.)
For student
performances:
When can I have a program?
Greater
Worcester Opera is available all year round. Regarding touring operas for
students, our normal performance hours
during the school year are
9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Fridays. Other times and days can be arranged with advance
notice.
How much does a school performance cost?
Greater Worcester Opera has the following fee schedule for the current season:
One program in one school- $500
Two programs in one school (same day)- $900
Is that all?
There may be nominal charges for additional time and effort including the
following:
Travel 35 miles outside of Central Massachusetts
More than 1.5 hour waiting time between programs
Preparation for
Greater Worcester Opera's
student shows
Once you have engaged
GWO to do a program at your school, we will need
you to provide the following:
1.) Tuned 88 key piano with bench
2.) Chairs for the performers
In addition to the performance of a show,
Greater Worcester Opera will
provide a written contract and a school information sheet with
information which can be read to the students before the show begins.
An extensive study guide is available on each opera's web
page. We also provide a teacher feedback form (which we ask the teachers to
fill out and send back collectively), as feedback of this type is
invaluable to us.
Other concerts
The singers
involved in Greater Worcester Opera are also available for other events, including
recitals, concerts, and other solo work including entertainment for private
parties. We have a versatile roster of professionally
trained singers and accompanists who perform everything from
grand and light opera, to Broadway, American songbook ,jazz
